Course Selection 2022-23: Math, Leadership, & CTE Audio Engineering

We continue our countdown to our Virtual Parent Information Night by highlighting our Math, Leadership, and Audio Engineering courses.

Math
Math teachers engage their students in problem solving, reasoning and proof, communication, representation, and connections. A total of twenty (20) credits in mathematics is required for graduation.  Students must meet minimum algebra proficiency by at least passing Math 1. There are several options for advanced coursework including honors level classes, AP Calculus, and AP statistics.
Leadership
Leadership class offers students an opportunity to develop leadership skills as they plan and facilitate various events. Members of this class will be involved in all facets of campus life, and will be expected to help involve their peers in positive activities on campus. In addition to teaching students to be effective leaders and leading their classes, this activity-based course allows students to plan and conduct extra-curricular activities for the entire student body. Students will discuss, vote on, and implement special projects throughout the school year.
CTE Audio Engineering
Audio Engineering is a brand new course being offered for the first time for 2022-23. Students who take the course will learn the basics of setting up sound for live performances and recordings. The key concepts of audio engineering will be covered and hands-on experiences such as running the mixing board in the theater will be integrated. Students who are also musicians will have the opportunity to perform live and create recordings of the music they have learned during the year. This course will give students a chance to participate in music without having to play an instrument. This course will be in the CTE industry sector of Arts, Media, and Entertainment, and will be in the Performing Arts Pathway.

Course Registration Window
Counselors will be in ELA classrooms to walk students through the course selection process over the next few weeks. The course registration window is open from 2/1-2/11 and students will be able to choose their courses during that time in Aeries.
