Senior Sunrise

This morning at 6:15 our Senior Class met in the stadium (The Range) to celebrate the opening of their senior year.  Our WONDERFUL Senior Parent Committee woke up early to get breakfast ready for the students, and they all took a picture as the sun rose over the school this morning.  We are happy for our Senior Class and the school spirit they have brought to school this year.  Good luck Class of 2019...we'll see you at Senior Sunset in May.

Summer Travel Opportunity: Costa Rica

We are excited to announce a third year of continuing the International Travel program! Over the past two summers, our teachers have partnered with outside travel companies to lead successful trips to Europe and we are now announcing another travel opportunity.

The Costa Rica Highlights Tour is an educational tour that takes travelers throughout Costa Rica. This tour is set for next summer, June 3rd through June 10th, 2019.  Your student could even earn credit while on the trip.  This trip is not affiliated with the school, but two of our teachers will be working with an outside agency to lead the tour.  For more information, we will host a meeting on September 5th at 6:30pm in the Learning Commons MHHS.

Mountain House Firefighter Explorer Program

Are you interested in a career as a firefighter?  Mountain House Fire Department will be on campus on Tuesday, September 4th to talk about their Explorer program.  The Explorer program will give you the opportunity to participate in classes at the fire department, learn about engines and tools, participate in drills and trainings, learn about the day-to-day operations of station life, and go on ride-alongs during live calls.  Please come to the Learning Commons during SUCCESS! and Lunch on Tuesday, September 4th for more information and to check out the fire truck.

SUCCESS!

SUCCESS! period at MHHS is a 30 minute period of time that occurs every day before the official lunch period at Mountain House High School.  SUCCESS! is a scheduled academic time for ALL students who need assistance, or enrichment from their teachers.  ALL teachers on campus are in their classrooms during SUCCESS! period, and are available for additional help before a test, for redo/retake, and for work completion.

Many students at MHHS do not need to take advantage of this SUCCESS! time because they are caught up with their work, do not need extra help, and would like to begin their lunch period early.  For this purpose, our cafeteria begins selling food at the beginning of the SUCCESS! period, and through the entire lunch period.  Cafeteria workers reserve food in the kitchen until the end of the SUCCESS! period so that students who take advantage of SUCCESS! will still have the same food options as the students who take advantage of lunch earlier.

SOME students are REQUIRED to attend SUCCESS! period.  Teachers can require students to attend during this academic time, even if the student does not have a poor grade in the class.  Teachers may use this time to provide additional direction, tutoring, or guidance for students.  If a teacher indicates that a student is required to attend SUCCESS! and the student does not attend, the student will be marked absent, and an unexcused absence shows up on the student's record.  The consequence for skipping a class at MHHS is Saturday School.  Students and parents will always be notified when a student is required to attend SUCCESS!

As of today (August 31, 2018) there are about 125 students who have been notified, and are required to attend SUCCESS! until their teacher exits them from the SUCCESS! period.

This year's first progress reporting period ends on September 6, 2018.  Starting on Monday September 10, 2018, any student who has a "D" or "F" grade in any of their classes will be REQUIRED to attend SUCCESS! until all of their grades reach a "B" grade or higher.

SUCCESS! period is REQUIRED and attendance is taken for students who have been notified.  If you have any questions, please contact your Vice Principal.

MHHS Football Team WINS!

After several First half miscues- Mountain House scored 20 unanswered in the second half to topple the Chavez Titans.

The offense was lead by QB Jesse Jordan throwing a Touchdown and running for another.
The Defense showed True Grit all night long. While playing with their backs against the wall for most of the first half the Defense set the tone in the second half – shutting down Chavez’s high powered offense.

Taeshaun Hodge Maroney, Keenami Maggard, Mehki Bryant and Elias Escobar led the Defense with multiple Sacks and tackles for a loss. Vladic Sutherland and Jacob Pacheco made huge defensive plays late in the game, to help secure the Victory.

The win marks another “First” for the young Mustang program as the first ever “COMEBACK VICTORY”. Head Varsity Coach, Jason McCloskey said, “I’m extremely proud of all the work our Coaching staff did in preparing the boys for this game and I’m very pleased with the boys “Buy-In” of our program. We’ve come a long way!”

The Mustangs are home next Friday night as they host Mt. Diablo (Concord). JV game is 5pm and Varsity at 7 pm.

MHHS Student ID Badge

Image result for STUDENT LANYARD PICTURES
Attention All Mustangs!

MHHS Administration has an important safety announcement.  All students will be required to wear their MHHS Student ID Badge on the upper half of their body at all times while on campus. This includes during ALL school functions such as sporting events and after school events.

Wearing your MHHS Student ID Badge is extremely important and a crucial piece to maintaining safety on our campus at all times.  Wearing the MHHS Student ID Badge creates an environment where it easy to quickly identify anyone that should not be on our campus.

If you lose your ID or it has been damaged stop by the school bank to get pick up a new one free of charge.  If you continuously are found on campus without wearing your ID badge you will need to purchase a new one and will receive a consequence from administration.

Feel free to get creative with the style of lanyard or badge clip of your choice!  The most important part is that the MHHS Student ID Badge is visible and easily seen by staff members at all times while on campus.

Please help us keep our campus safe by wearing your MHHS Student ID Badge EVERYDAY!
