STUDENT ALERT! Learning Commons Opens!

The new MHHS Learning Commons is now opening for student use during the school day, and into the evening.

READ THIS POST CLOSELY and follow all of the directions if you would like to use the new Learning Commons.  

Did you know that the Learning Commons is now open for use as a quiet study space?  As of Monday 12/11/17, we are opening up the Learning Commons every day starting at 7:30 A.M.  The Learning Commons will be open every day until 6:00 P.M.  We are excited to have this space open for students to come in and have a quiet study space.  Before you come use the Learning Commons, you must read the following rules, and take a short quiz to show that you understand the rules of the Learning Commons.

Learning Commons Rules:

  1. The Learning Commons is open as a QUIET study space from 7:30 A.M. until 6:00 P.M.
  2. No Food, no drink is allowed in the library except for water in closed containers.
  3. Cell Phones must be on silent.  If you take a call, you must take it outside.
  4. Use of earphones/earbuds is OK, but they must be low enough that people around you cannot hear it.
  5. Furniture in the Learning Commons should not be moved without permission from the Librarian, or the Library Clerk.
  6. Our Librarian’s name is Mrs. Hecht and our Library Clerk’s name is Mrs. Korde
  7. There are two conference rooms in the Learning Commons that can be used for group study sessions.  You must ask permission from the librarian or library clerk.
  8. The Learning Commons may be used all day before school, during flex periods, during SUCCESS!, during lunch, or after school.  
  9. Students who want to socialize are still welcome to be in the Multi-Use room for most of the school day.
  10. The Learning Commons may close at specific times, or during specific days depending on the needs of the school.  
  11. At this time, students can access the library through the door marked “G102”.  You can find this door between the Learning Commons and the A building.  The lobby area and the restrooms are off limits at this time.  Students needing to use the restroom must access them in the A building.  
  12. ALL STUDENTS who plan on using the learning commons must be wearing their ID card in order to access the library.  Your ID card must be on and visible at all times.  Students not wearing their ID are not allowed.  

We hope that students will enjoy using the new learning commons.  It is exciting to be using this new building.  In the coming weeks and months, we are purchasing thousands of new print books, and thousands of additional ebooks that you can access from your Chromebook or through your personal phone or tablet.

Now...please take the short quiz attached to this email by CLICKING HERE.  You will receive a confirmation email with your score within 5 minutes of submitting your quiz. Your first visit to the Learning Commons you must visit the librarian at the circulation desk and show the email that you completed the quiz and correctly answered the questions.  Make sure you are wearing your ID card.

Winter Concert for Band and Choir

The Mountain House High School Music Department will hold their 2017 Winter Concert tonight @ 7PM in the MHHS Large Gym. This concert will feature our Award winning Marching band, Symphonic Band, Choirs, and Orchestra. General Admission is  $6 for Adults and $3 for Students and children. Members of the Elementary music classes grades 5-8 are Free along with their families if they wear their music department shirts.
