Virtual Senior Awards - Distinguished Student and Pinnacle Awards

The Stockton Record, in conjunction with the San Joaquin County Office of Education, honors outstanding high school seniors in our county every year.   These awards recognize students who exemplify a well-rounded student career with the cornerstones of academics, activities, and citizenship.

Notice of Non-District Sponsored, Voluntary, Pfizer-Biontech Vaccine for COVID-19, for Children Ages 12 and Older

We are pleased to announce our partnership with Dr. Park from San Joaquin Public Health Services and Sutter Health to bring a vaccination event to Lammersville Unified School District students and families.

As you may know, the Pfizer-Biontech COVID -19 Vaccine is being made available to students ages 12 years and older.  The Lammersville Unified School District ("District") has agreed to allow Sutter Health access to District campuses to administer the vaccine to students whose parents/guardians sign and return the enclosed consent form.

The District is not requiring students to become vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to attend school.   Nor is the District in any way sponsoring or responsible for the vaccine program put on by Sutter Health.  Lastly, the enclosed consent form and Fact Sheet are provided by the California Department of Public Health ("CDPH"), not the District.

All minors, individuals under the age of 18, will need to bring a completed consent form for each dose.  While a parent/guardian is not required to accompany a minor, the form must include a phone number for a parent/guardian  to be used prior to the administration of the vaccine.  If you would like for your student to become vaccinated, you will need to sign and bring/send the attached consent form, after reviewing the Fact Sheet, to the vaccination event. Upon check-in at the vaccination event, a parent/guardian will be contacted to confirm consent for all individuals under the age of 18.

For additional information about the upcoming vaccination event please refer to the links below.

Chromebook Scan-in 2021

As we come to the close of another school year, it's time to have your Chromebook scanned in before the end of the year. During the week of 5/24 through 5/28, students must bring their LUSD Chromebook to their Advisory class each day. A member of the IT staff will be walking through classrooms to scan your Chromebook. Here's a schedule of the days that they will be in your Advisory classroom:

Monday 5/24--A building classrooms
Tuesday 5/25--C building 1st floor classrooms
Wednesday 5/26--C building 2nd floor classrooms
Thursday 5/27--CTE building and Theater classrooms
Friday 5/28--PE and Gyms

Don't forget your Chromebook next week to get it scanned in. If you don't get it scanned in during Advisory, you will have to bring it to the IT office in the Learning Commons before the last day of school. Students who do not have their Chromebook scanned in will have the device locked. Locked devices will be unusable until it gets verified through IT.

Are you a fully online student?  Are you currently on quarantine?  You must complete the Online Verification/Scan Form during the week fo 5/24  to 5/28

Aloha and Happy Scanning!

Host Families Needed!--Foreign Exchange Students

See the message below from our local exchange student coordinator:

It’s that time of year again! We have 17 high school exchange students coming to Mountain House, Tracy and Manteca next 2021/22 school year, and we need loving volunteer homes 🏡  for them! We try to match them up with your hobbies, sports 🏀🎾and family activities. These students have the American dream to be a member of your family! Single-parent homes💜, empty-nesters, families with small children, all make great homes!😊

This past year we had 13 high school students successfully become members of local families, even with Covid! References are available from these families.

Here are just a couple to consider:

Charlotte from Belgium🇧🇪 will be a Senior and likes to run and work out. She likes to play cards and board games and is passionate about Latin and ballroom dancing.

Elija from Germany🇩🇪 will be a Junior and says he likes sports, music🎷 and cooking 🧑‍🍳. He hopes to open his own restaurant someday. He plays the saxophone and sang in the Berlin Opera State Choir, where he was able to travel the world and previously came to California on tour. He loves watching movies and wants to become a member of your family!

Many more awesome students from Italy, Spain, Japan, France, Turkey, and more to consider.

Please call to get more information, fill out an application, and background check: Academic Coordinator, Ceci 951-204-2165 cell (I’m local!)

Senior Community Service Awards 2021 & Mustang Spirit Award

Today's Community Service Awards are given to students who have achieved excellence in community service.  Aside from the 40 hours of community service required for all students to graduate, some students went over and above in providing hundreds of hours of service to their communities. Students who offer community service perform an essential duty as citizens of our community. They distinguish themselves as individuals who truly care about their fellow beings.

Today, we are also awarding the Mustang Spirit Award to a student who leads by example at MHHS.

Sree Subramanian wins 2021 National Merit Scholarship Competition

Congratulations to Sree Subramanian who has been named the winner of a 2021 National Merit $2500 Scholarship!

2021 National Merit Scholarship Competition
From approximately 1.6 million students who entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program, only about 16,000 were named Semifinalists. They were
designated on a state representational basis, in proportion to each state’s percentage of the national total of graduating high school seniors. In order to advance in the competition and be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, a Semifinalist had to
become a Finalist by fulfilling several requirements that included submitting a detailed scholarship application and presenting a record of very high academic performance. All winners of about 7,500 National Merit Scholarships are being chosen from the group of approximately 15,000 distinguished Finalists.

Congratulations to Sree!

Virtual Senior Awards - Pathway Awards

Pathway cords are awarded to students who have obtained recognition by specializing in certain fields of interest.  The MHHS Professional Pathways offer a structured system where students can obtain recognition at graduation for completing approved courses connected to each industry.  This type of recognition upon graduation is similar to the recognition students can get in college by declaring a “minor” in their course of study. The recipients of the Pathway Awards will receive a colored cord that they will wear at graduation that signifies the pathway they completed while studying as a high school student.

MHHS Speech and Debate Students Compete at NIETOC 2021

This past week, three of our MHHS Speech & Debate students competed in the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC).  This is a very prestigious competition in which students must first qualify in order to participate.  The qualifying process is quite rigorous in that students must earn not one, but at least two bids in very specific invitationals throughout the year.

The students who qualified and competed in this year's Tournament of Champions are:
    Anisha Yeddanapudi in Extemporaneous Speaking
    Elizabeth Su in Informative Speaking
    Vishnu Matta in Humorous Interpretation

We celebrate these students and want to congratulate VISHNU MATTA for making it to the QUARTER-FINAL round of the National Invitational Tournament of Champions!  His success is proof that he is a very funny guy!
