Zachary's Athletic Accomplishments

It has been a productive year for our very own Zachary Nazareno. He traveled to Arizona, Utah, and Wichita for wheelchair basketball. His team won the West Coast Conference Championship. In February, Zach went down to Irvine for a sled hockey tournament which they won. In March, he was invited to do the ceremonial puck drop at a Sharks game. In April, he practiced with an Olympic gold medalist at the Warriors facility in Oakland. A few days ago, he received an invitation to attend a sled hockey development camp in New Jersey for a week in July. The camp trains potential USA National and Olympic team athletes. He has been able to keep up with his studies while participating in each of these tournaments. We are so proud of his success and all his achievements!

MHHS Safety Update

It is with deep sadness that we share our heartfelt sympathy to the students, parents, staff and community of Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.  Once again we find ourselves faced with the unbelievable situation the families and this community are facing with the loss of students and teachers who did not survive this senseless tragedy.

While this active shooter situation occurred far away in Texas, we recognize the anxiety that the active shooter situation in Texas may cause our students, family, staff, and community here in Mountain House.  We encourage parents/guardians and staff to visit the link here for National Association of School Psychologists website to learn more about talking to children about violence.   In addition, or partners at Common Sense Media have provided additional resources for parents and guardians about how to discuss disturbing news with children here:  https://tinyurl.com/Common-sense-talking-tips .  We also want to remind our community that our district counselor, site-level counselors, and school psychologists are here to support students and families as they respond to students at this time.  Our wellness center is also staffed during the day for students to drop-in as they need assistance to process their thoughts and feelings at this time.  Online counseling resources are also available through our online Wellness Center at http://mhhscounselingblog.weebly.com/wellness-center-resources.html

Whenever there is school violence, it can also cause fear and anxiety for parents and family members as well.  While there is no simple answer to school safety, the District’s administration and Board of Education are committed to student and staff well-being. We take a comprehensive approach to school safety by addressing it in several different ways.  One is through creating a safe campus environment, which includes secured gated entries to campus with campus supervisors, administrators and counselors at each gate in the morning, and supervision at the gates in the afternoons.  During the school day, there is only one entrance to the campus through the administration building where the front desk is staffed throughout the day.  Our use of a visitor management system automatically logs visitors to campus and checks their background before entering campus.  We have 3 full-time campus supervisors monitoring campus throughout the day, and a county sheriff helps to patrol district schools during the course of the school day.  Each of our schools has a school safety team and school security protocols outlining step-by-step measures to address safety/security concerns.  The district maintains a radio communication system that spans the entire district for quick and efficient communication in the event of an emergency.  Our district safety committee consistently works with all school sites to create safety plans, schedule safety drills, and respond to emergency situations swiftly.

We also recognize the importance of students to have caring relationships with adults in our schools.  In addition to classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, counselors, campus supervisors, and other adult staff on our campus, Mountain House High School works hard to create caring relationships with students through our Advisory classes, wellness center programs, counseling services, community partnerships, and volunteers who create caring and trusting relationships with our students.  During any emergency situation, these caring adults will always do all that they can to keep our students safe.

Finally, one of the most important actions any of us can take to keep our schools safe is to report instances of potential harm or threats.  We encourage everyone, students, parents, faculty, staff, community members, or anyone to report any concerning behavior to the school.  If you see something, whether it be in person, online, or any other format, say something.  Phone calls will be routed to appropriate school personnel by calling our main number at 209.836.7460.  Anonymous reports can also be made at any time through our anonymous tips link on our school website at mhhs.lammersvilleschoodistrict.net

We take our responsibility to educate and keep our students and staff safe very seriously.  We truly believe in the power of the relationships that we build here in the Mustang ‘Ohana.  Please take care of each other during this difficult time.

Inspirational Athlete

Our very own MHHS senior baseball player Chase Patrizio was featured on 49ers Sac-Hi Sports as an inspirational athlete. Here's a 4-minute segment on his family's story ...can't say enough about the kid and what he has been through. He will be attending Butte College next year to play baseball and study to be a fish and game warden.

Congratulations PLTW teachers

A huge congratulations goes out to our PLTW teachers for getting our school recognized again by Project Lead The Way as a Distinguished High School. Project Lead the Way curriculum is the project-based curriculum that is used in our Biomed (Kris Olson, Nicole Gary, Micah Wynn), Computer Science (Khin Wone, William Gay), and Engineering (Steve Geuss) pathways, and this recognition celebrates our school's commitment to helping empower students to unlock their potential by developing the in-demand, real-world knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in life beyond the classroom.

E-sports Spring Season

Our E-Sport season has come to an end. Our team fought a great fight during their playoffs. Congratulations for making it so far in their first year. We look forward to seeing what is in store for next year!

Every 15 Minutes

Mountain House High School will be hosting an Every 15 Minutes event on Thursday, May 19th. On that morning you may see and/or hear various types of emergency vehicles heading to the school. The emergency response is a carefully planned part of the event and should not cause alarm.

Every 15 Minutes is a two-day program that challenges high school juniors and seniors to think about drinking, driving, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions when lives are involved. Students involved in the program will be staging a simulated traffic collision on campus to create an immersive and emotional learning experience for their peers.

A planning team from the high school, in conjunction with the California Highway Patrol, the Mountain House Fire Department, and various other local agencies, is taking this proactive step in educating our students about making mature decisions when alcoholic beverages are involved. The program’s name was conceived in 1990 when one alcohol-related traffic fatality occurred in the United States every fifteen minutes.

More information about the program can be found here: Every 15 Minutes

Please contact Aline White (alwhite@lammersvilleusd.net) with any questions.

CIF Sac San Joaquin Div 4 Finals

It was a perfect way to end a season for the Mountain Houses High School Mustangs boys tennis team.  The #1 seed Mustangs of MHHS traveled to Oak Park in Stockton on Wednesday May 11 to take on the #2 seed Oakdale High (also Mustangs).  The WAC singles champion Eidan Mercado, despite not feeling his best, still dominated his opponent Jackson Healy at #2 singles 6-1, 6-0 to win the first match for MH.  Senior veteran Manas Mantri soon followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win of his own at #5 singles against Ethan Dingu.  The next one to finish was sophomore Daniel Zhang at #4 singles who beat his opponent Alex Tangle 6-1, 6-1.  Junior Pranav Sundar finished right after Zhang, winning his match at #6 singles, 6-1, 6-0 against Carson Stueve.

"Winning the first 4 matches was relatively easy but we really had to battle to win the 5th match and clinch the championship," said Coach Andy Su.

Senior captain Sreeram Ranga won a very tough first set 6-4 and then found himself down 1-4 in the second.  He fought hard to tie it at 5-5 and continued to use his powerful forehand repeatedly to dominate the final two games and the match and clinch the sectional championship for Mountain House.  The match of the day belonged to the top player from each team, #1 singles freshman Aadi Rajan from MH and #1 singles Caleb Poling from Oakdale.  Poling took the early lead in the first set and won a close set, 6-4.  The second set was a back and forth fight that Rajan won 7-5.  The final set started close but Rajan eventually pulled away 6-3 in the end to win the 6th match for MH.  The depth of the MH team allowed the doubles team to win all 3 matches without much struggle.  Senior Shuv Chakravarty, last year's WAC singles champion, played at #1 doubles with sophomore Zuhair Mughal and won 6-2, 6-3.  Senior veterans Ayush Sheth and Gautham Chandra won their match at #2 doubles easily 6-1, 6-2.  Senior Jerry Li closed out his high school career with Junior Charan Battula at #3 doubles and won 6-3, 6-3.  Section Commissioner Will Deboard congratulated both teams and awarded patches to both teams, the finalist plaque to Oakdale coach Grant Miller and the blue Sac San Joaquin Sectional Championship banner to Coach Andy Su.  This was the second Sac San Joaquin Sectional Championship that Mountain House High School has ever won in any sport in their 9 year history.  The first was won earlier this school year by the girls tennis team also led by Coach Andy Su.
