Attention incoming Juniors and Seniors

If you are going to be a Junior or a Senior at MHHS next year, you could be the next great addition to LINK Crew next year.

LINK Crew is a group of upperclassmen that help incoming students (particularly incoming 9th graders) transition into life at our High School. We host fun events like Orientation, Tailgate Parties, Freshmen only rally, Pumpkin Painting, Hot Cocoa Study Sessions, and more.

Being a part of this group is a time commitment.  You will be responsible for attending our "May Day" event (part of your training in May), Summer training (typically a week or so before school starts), and all of our events we host. You do get 25 community service hours for your time in helping make our school an awesome place to be!

So, if you would like to be a part of this fun group, please apply by filling out this Form. It is due on Friday 4/30.

4th Quarter Progress Report Posted

The 4th quarter progress report of the 2020-2021 school year at MHHS has been completed, and student grades for the 4th quarter progress report are now available.  Students and parents should be able to access their report card grades by logging in to the Aeries Portal HERE.  Students and parents should be aware of the following in relation to their quarter report card:

  • Quarter Progress Grades are not "official" grades as they are NOT included on the permanent student transcript
  • Quarter Progress Grades give you a good idea of student mastery of concepts at this time.
  • This is the LAST progress report card before the end of the semester when permanent grades are recorded.

As always, parents and students who are concerned about their grade at this time should contact their teachers to talk about how they might be able to improve their performance and demonstrate mastery of skills and concepts in their classes.

Mountain House High School Student Takes Science and Engineering Awards

Jacqueline Prawira has taken her learning from Mountain House High School and built upon it in some amazing ways.  Read her scientific developments and her resulting successes below.

Cyclo.Plas: Jacqueline developed a thin, plastic-like film from fish scales inspired by her diet and trips to the fish market. It has tensile strengths comparable to Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and is capable of biodegrading, which is an improvement over LDPE plastic.  This project recently won first place in the Environmental Science category at the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS).  Jacqueline Prawira received a $12000 scholarship.

Cyclo.Plas 2: This project was inspired by the pandemic and the 3D-printed face shield operation Jacqueline conducted.  When Jacqueline selected PLA filament as a bioplastic to make the face shields, she found that PLA waste can only be composted in industrial composting facilities.  Unfortunately, none are available in our area.  Additionally, PLA waste is not easily recycled, meaning it accumulates in landfill/environment like other plastics.  Jacqueline believes that we shouldn’t have to choose between the health of our community and the health of our environment.  So she developed compostable materials using biomimicry of the fish scale waste composition with the goal of replacing single-use plastics including non-medical PPE.  Jacqueline liaised with Mr. Mario Cuellar from Hitachi and Dr. Karl Weiss from Arizona State University to remotely access a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to view and refine the structure of her engineered materials.  Jacqueline’s bioengineering accomplishments are an important step forward in reducing waste and the prevalence of plastics/ microplastics in our environment.

Jacqueline presented Cyclo.Plas 2 at the SacSTEM Regional Science Fair, winning first place in the Sustainable Technology Category and the Grand Award (Top Project at the Fair).  She qualified for and presented at the state level (results are still pending).  As the Grand Award winner at the Regional Science Fair, Jacqueline has been named a finalist for the 2021 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).  This is her second year competing at ISEF.  At ISEF 2019, Jacqueline won second place in the Material Science category and was awarded a $1500 scholarship and special awards from the National Security Agency and the Environmental Protection Agency.  Jacqueline was the first student from Mountain House High School to ever compete at ISEF.  This year her brother Jordan, who is also a Grand Prize Winner, is attending and competing at ISEF this coming May 16-21, 2021.

Return-To-School 2021

Mountain House High School Faculty, Staff, and Administration are excited to announce the
return to in-person instruction beginning of Monday, April 19, 2021.  As we begin to come out of the restrictions necessitated to keep us safe from the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, we want to thank all of our students and families for persevering through one of the most difficult times in our world’s modern history, and in the short history of Mountain House High School.

As we begin to return to some face-to-face instruction, we want students and parents to know that our return to school will be carefully planned so that continued precautions are taken to ensure the safety of our students.  Please review the following information about the return to school on Monday April 19, 2021:

  • All students returning to campus will be required to wear a mask and follow all safety protocols.  MHHS Administration will be hosting a return-to-school Safety Protocol meeting for parents on Wednesday April 14, 2021 at 6:30 P.M. Here is the link to the livestream: https://tinyurl.com/MHHSReturnSafety

  • All students in face-to-face classes will be required to return to school on the Hybrid Schedule.  Click on the link HERE to see the Hybrid Schedule(Students who have forgotten their Hybrid Scheduling Group (Mon/Thurs OR Tues/Fri) can find it on their Aeries Portal by clicking “Student Information” then “Demographics.”  The Scheduling Group is listed at the bottom right of the demographics screen.)

  • Students in the fully online pathway will continue to attend all classes online and will not return to campus.

  • Unless otherwise requested to come to campus, all Wednesday SUCCESS! Sessions will be virtual.

  • All students will be required to continue to attend Advisory on a DAILY basis for attendance purposes.  Students on asynchronous days will attend virtually while students on-campus will attend in person.

  • Throughout the week of April 12th to April 16th, MHHS will be posting and emailing updates, videos, and tips to all students and parents about the protocols for the return to school.  Please check your email, our social media channels, or online school newsletter (mhhsmustangmessenger.blogspot.com) for regular updates.

Again, we are excited to have our students return to school, and look forward to doing so in a safe and secure environment.

SUCCESS! Reminders

As we return from Spring Break, please take a moment to review the information below:

SUCCESS! is an integral part of MHHS. It is academic time embedded within our school day for dedicated check-ins, support, and enrichment.  Due to the additional needs for student support during Distance Learning, MHHS has designated 17 different time slots for SUCCESS! during each week.

ALL students need to sign up for a SUCCESS! Activity EVERY DAY in Flextime Manager

  • Students will likely not be attending 17 SUCCESS! Activities with teachers each week, so students have the option to select “Distance Learning” for the times they want to work on their own.
  • Students you need to make sure you sign up for every slot that is offered for the day. If you only sign up for one slot and additional slots are offered, you will be marked absent
  • Teachers can request students to attend their SUCCESS! Activity on any day for additional help or support
  • Students are required to attend any teacher-requested SUCCESS! Activity on their Flextime Manager schedule
  • Students who do not show up to their pre-scheduled SUCCESS! class will be marked absent
  • The administration will be following up with those students who are not attending.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact your student’s Vice-Principal. For students with the last name A-L, please contact Mr. Pannu. For students with the last name M-Z, please contact Ms. Duran. Thank you.
