Congratulations to the Lady Mustangs Golf Team

Mountain House High School's Lady Mustangs Golf Team have completed their 2021 season UNDEFEATED!  Read the colorful synopsis of the end of the season by our golf coach Grant Davis below:

Last year we were Runner-ups losing only 2 matches, this year, we are the CHAMPIONS!

On an extremely windy day at Tracy Golf & Country Club (even lighter on the Country Club as now the Golf Range is closed) the Mighty Lady Mustangs came out confident and ready to take on the Tigers of Patterson, you could say we TAMED the Tigers! It is hard to imagine playing golf in wind running North to South as strongly as it did yesterday, do give an example: a good drive can be hit 170 yards on a normal windless day 170 yards into the wind travels only 135 yards, with the wind it travels over 200+ yards. Much like the Disney Character Gale who is the elemental spirit of wind the Mighty Mustangs battled the ferocity of the wind to dwell amongst the highest echelons in the game and are now the WAC(I think the "C" stands for COVID) Champions!

So, a Salute to a magnificent team of fine players, great athletes and all around good young women who will make an awe inspiring impact on our school in the years to come.

Courageous Voice Forum

The Mountain House High School Administration, Faculty, Staff, and the entire Mustang Ohana have been appalled at the recent reports of  violent incidents reported across the country.  As a diverse family of learners and educators, we abhor and reject the attitudes of racism and hate exhibited by those who perpetrate these crimes.  To all in our community who are Asian or Asian American, we want you to know that we too share hurt, anger, heartache, and fear because of the latest violence that targeted those of Asian descent.  As a true Ohana (family), we stand against any act of hate, prejudice, and bias and declare our commitment to the diversity and unity that defines our school and community.  Together we will build a safer and more inclusive environment.  Never before, has it been more important as Mustangs to remember who we are, what we represent, and to show our Mustang Pride.

As a response to the recent events, Mountain House High School counseling department will again be holding our “Courageous Voice” forum to discuss issues in the wake of the recent unrest and calls for racial justice in our society.  As a school, we want to provide a space to process and to address these issues in our nation and community head-on.

Our “Courageous Voice” forum will be taking place Wednesday March 23rd (tomorrow) at 2:30 P.M.  We encourage our students to attend this forum by visiting the link to the forum sent to their student email address.

We welcome all of our students to join and participate in our efforts to support our Mustang Ohana and the Mountain House community during these difficult times.

Girls Golf Update

Coach Grant Davis is such a great commentator, I'll let him tell you the story of the Lady Mustangs' success:

3/9-It was a wonderfully warm day, the only thing warmer were the HOT Clubs of the Lady Mustangs that were on 🔥FIRE🔥as they took on the arch rival Beyer, using a strategy unique to only to someone with who is a cunning genius, I mixed up the player pairing and changed the starting pair, this key decision, reminiscent of the Ryder Cup pairing of Tiger Woods and Davis Love III when they handily defeated their opponents 4-3(They won after the the 13th hole...a walk off) This move turned out to be critical as the Beyer Ladies came at us improving their last defeat by shooting 39 strokes less than our previous last match. Unfortunately for them, we also improved by the same 39 strokes, with Lia Hernandez and Evelyn Holtz shooting career bests. Congratulations to the Mighty Mustangs now 6-0 (that means we are undefeated in competition)

3/11-What a difference 2 days make, it was a bitterly Cold day at Tracy Golf & Country Club(so light on the Country Club you'll think DIet Coke has calories) Keeping with the 2nd half of the season strategy, we kept with the same player line up and it spurred Evelyn Holtz best her previous 9 hole score by 2, the young woman looks like a seasoned CEO at a Board Meeting laying down the dictates of the Shareholders as she moves aggressively forward in her golf career, humble, skilled and determined, I pity the opponent that has to go against the grain of this unstoppable force. As a Team we played well, did our work and got the Job done, as a Coach my saying is :"It's not important to keep the ball in the Fairway...as long as you're not picky about which Fairway". We walloped the Lathrop Spartans with a crushing 50+ stoke insurmountable lead and victory.

Can you say "Seven & Ohhhyeah!" 😂🏌🦄

Speech and Debate News

This past week, Saksham Madaan earned the National Speech & Debate Association's Academic All American award.  This prestigious award recognizes academic rigor, competitive speech and debate success and personal excellence.  Eligible students must achieve a GPA of 3.7 or higher, earned the degree of Superior Distinction in the National Forensic League Honor Society, and demonstrate outstanding character and leadership.  Each year, fewer than 1% of the National Speech & Debate Association student members earn this award.  Please help me in congratulating Saksham.

Saksham Madaan & Udit Karthikeyan have qualified for the National Parliamentary Debate League Tournament of Champions.  This is an amazing accomplishment.  Their hard work and debate success have earned them the # 2 spot within our region, allowing them to participate in the Tournament of Champions on April 16th-18th.

With the recent competitions and success, the following students have earned special recognition from the National Speech and Debate Association, the National Forensic League Honor Society:

Sambhav Agarwal, for reaching 75 merit points:  Honor

Anisha Yeddanapudi, for reaching 1500 merit points and the highest possible distinction:  Premier Distinction

Girls Tennis Undefeated

Another great girls tennis win Monday against previously undefeated Patterson. We are 1/2 way through the season and have a perfect record of 6-0 (5-0 in the WAC).

Our girls tennis team has won 29 league matches in a row.
