SUCCESS! period at MHHS is a 30 minute period of time that occurs every day before the official lunch period at Mountain House High School. SUCCESS! is a scheduled academic time for ALL students who need assistance, or enrichment from their teachers. ALL teachers on campus are in their classrooms during SUCCESS! period, and are available for additional help before a test, for redo/retake, and for work completion.
Many students at MHHS do not need to take advantage of this SUCCESS! time because they are caught up with their work, do not need extra help, and would like to begin their lunch period early. For this purpose, our cafeteria begins selling food at the beginning of the SUCCESS! period, and through the entire lunch period. Cafeteria workers reserve food in the kitchen until the end of the SUCCESS! period so that students who take advantage of SUCCESS! will still have the same food options as the students who take advantage of lunch earlier.
SOME students are REQUIRED to attend SUCCESS! period. Teachers can require students to attend during this academic time, even if the student does not have a poor grade in the class. Teachers may use this time to provide additional direction, tutoring, or guidance for students. If a teacher indicates that a student is required to attend SUCCESS! and the student does not attend, the student will be marked absent, and an unexcused absence shows up on the student's record. The consequence for skipping a class at MHHS is Saturday School. Students and parents will always be notified when a student is required to attend SUCCESS!
As of today (August 31, 2018) there are about 125 students who have been notified, and are required to attend SUCCESS! until their teacher exits them from the SUCCESS! period.
This year's first progress reporting period ends on September 6, 2018. Starting on Monday September 10, 2018, any student who has a "D" or "F" grade in any of their classes will be REQUIRED to attend SUCCESS! until all of their grades reach a "B" grade or higher.
SUCCESS! period is REQUIRED and attendance is taken for students who have been notified. If you have any questions, please contact your Vice Principal.
