GoGuardian Parent App
Mountain House High School has just granted you access to GoGuardian Parent, a mobile app to help keep parents/guardians aware of your children's browsing activity, app usage, and more. GoGuardian Parent is a companion to the classroom management and internet filtering tools that your child's school uses for devices issued to students. Through the use of this app, we hope to encourage more open and honest conversations between parents and children that will result in safer practices and responsible browsing habits.
What is GoGuardian Parent?
GoGuardian Parent was created to help provide additional educational support to administrators and teachers by allowing parents to see what sites and documents their children are browsing. The app gives parents a bird's eye view of the apps and websites that their kids are on most often. With this perspective, parents can be made aware of what types of browsing behavior schools are seeing from students so they can all work together to encourage more effective internet browsing habits at home and at school.
What's the intention of the app?
By providing insight into student browsing habits, our goal is to empower parents to take a more active role in their children's online learning. We aim to create a greater sense of transparency with student browsing to help bring about a greater sense of accountability on both the parent's and the student's part. We also believe that transparency and insight will increase the likelihood of productive student browsing habits on a more consistent basis.
What is included in this app:
Top 5 summary of student browsing (apps, extensions, documents, and websites visited)
30-day view of websites, videos, documents, apps, and extensions
To access the app, please follow the below instructions:
Download the app
After the app is successfully downloaded and installed, open it up and enter the email address registered with the school. Note: If you forgot your registered email address, please reach out to your school administrator.
Login/Check Email: Check your email on your phone (not from your computer) for a link to log in to the app. Tap the "Verify your email", and it will take you straight to the app. Note: If you don't have access to your email through the device you used to log in, tap on "Login with verification code", and copy and paste the verification code from the email into the app.

A Message from our School Nurse
Hello Mustangs,
I hope all of you are staying healthy, staying home, and staying on top of your distance learning! Even though these are uncertain times, you can be most certain that I am still here for you! No, I may not be able to serve you water, snacks, or a bag of ice for your “headache”, but I can still lend you a compassionate ear or help ease your worries away, I am only an email away!
Always remember, just because we are not physically together, we will get through this together.
We are Mustangs. We are Ohana!

MHHS Prom Announcement
Mustang Ohana,
It pains me to send this email out to you at this time. Due to circumstances beyond our control, and the restrictions placed on large gatherings in the State of California at this time, we are announcing that the prom scheduled for April 18th has been canceled. At this time, administration will be working with the leadership teachers and students to discuss options to plan some other type of activity or dance that might be able to be held once the state clears us to have a large gathering again. Students who have already purchased prom tickets will be fully refunded.
I want you to know how much we care about you, and about the experiences that make our school unique. Prom is one of these experiences, and I assure you that as soon as we are able, we will be planning some sort of activity or experience that will be special for us to remember this school year. As always, we are here for you. I urge you to reach out to us virtually at this time, and to continue to support one another as we continue on during this school year. We will continue to work hard to provide a unique experience that helps our students to feel a part of a community. I encourage you to engage in the virtual activities and events that are happening each week during this time of distance learning. We encourage you to stay healthy both physically and mentally. During this time that we are apart, it is really important to remember who you are, what you represent, and to show your Mustang Pride!
With Aloha,
Mr. Fobert

Technology Etiquette for Distance Learning
During this time of distance learning, we'd like to remind you of some important tips when it comes to your technology etiquette while online. Remember that you are either using a school device, or you are using the school's technology resources (Google platform, Canvas, educational apps, etc.). All of these resources belong to the district, and are subject to the Acceptable Use Policy that you signed at the beginning of the school year. Here's some specific tips:
- Be aware of when you are sharing your screen, and what is in the picture when you are sharing.
- Make sure to be respectful of your interactions with one another and your teachers.
- Chat and meeting functions in Google are all monitored and can be retrieved, so make sure that you are appropriate at all times in your verbal and written exchanges.
We want you to use the technology that we have to remain connected during this time of distance learning. Please remember to use the technology you have been given in positive ways.

Distance Learning Days During School Closure
Our district superintendent, Dr. Kirk Nicholas, recently sent a communication home indicating that school will now be closed for the next three weeks. In addition to the school closure, all sporting events, practices, and other extracurricular activities have been cancelled through April 6, 2020. We want to assure our parents and students that the Mustang “Ohana” is here for you, and we want to ensure that we all keep on track academically, socially, and emotionally during this time. While one of these weeks is an official vacation week, the next two weeks from Monday 3/16 to Friday 3/27 will be designated as “Distance Learning” days. Attached to this email is the MHHS Distance Learning Plan. In this plan there are details about what distance learning is, and how we intend to provide an enriching learning experience for students while they are not physically at school. I encourage your family to read through the plan, paying special attention to the “10 Guidelines for MHHS Parents and Students.”
Here are some details in regards to the coming days:
- Monday 3/16--No distance learning--Teacher prep day
- Tuesday 3/17--Teachers will communicate with students and parents about the start of distance learning.
- Wednesday 3/18 through Friday 3/27--Distance learning.
During this period of distance learning it will be essential that students and parents check their emails multiple times a day for updates and information. This is an essential life skill that will be important for students to learn. Many of our students are not in the habit of checking their emails. Parents should check now to help students organize their email inboxes and empty their unread emails from past months or years.
Students may also be required to login to video conferencing for attendance purposes or for instructional purposes in specific classes. This will be done through our Canvas Learning Management System, or through Google Hangouts within the district Google applications.
In addition, parents and students must regularly log on to Canvas for the bulk of their classwork. Parents who do not have a parent login can either have their students login, or contact the high school office for help with setting up their account.
We look forward to supporting students and families during this period of distance learning. As always, please reach out to the school with your questions and concerns.

Ohlone College Quiz Bowl
The Mountain House High School Biomedical Pathway has an articulation agreement with Ohlone College. Students may take the Ohlone College Biotechnology 105 test and receive 4 transferrable credits if they achieve an 80% or higher and a B or higher in the MI and BI classes. In conjunction with the agreement Ohlone College sponsors a pizza and quiz bowl competition for high school students who are studying the biotechnology content. On February 21st two teams of students from MHHS competed against other high school teams. It was a fun night with a few pop culture questions thrown in. Mountain House team Parinita Jithendra, Adithi Varma, Aarush Maddela and Chinmayi Mutyala won second place in the bracketed tournament. . Students in the second place team received $30 Amazon gift cards. We look forward to a rematch next year.
Mock Trial 2020
For the past several weeks, led by their coach, Eric Feinstein, thirty two students from Mountain House High school participated in the San Joaquin County Mock Trial competition. The students receive a fictitious case in September and have been preparing for the competition all year. Students prepared a prosecution and defense case in chief by taking on the roles of attorneys, witnesses, bailiff, and courtroom clerk. They participated in six rounds of competition, with the varsity team taking 3rd place in the county. They also took two junior varsity teams to the competition and they placed 1st and 2nd in the junior varsity league. Sixteen of the students took home individual awards for their attorney, witness, and clerk roles.
In addition to learning the ins and outs of the legal system like questioning witnesses, performing opening statements, and arguing objections, students learned teamwork, critical thinking, gained confidence, and have shown that they can skillfully think on their feet.

Golden Gate Science Olympiad
The MHHS Blue and Silver Science Olympiad Teams recently traveled to UC Berkeley to compete in the Golden Gate Science Olympiad Invitational.
This is one of the most challenging invitationals in the Science Olympiad world. Teams from all over the US come to Golden Gate SO to see how they will stack up against their Nationals competitors. Any medals at GGSO means that we are competing on the same level as the best teams in the Nation.
Please congratulate the following students for medaling in their events:
The following events did not medal in their events, but placed in the top 10 of out the 55 teams that competed this year:
Overall, Blue Team placed 17th and Silver Team placed 37th. These placements are even more impressive when you consider that each team had several normal members absent and White Team students filled in on events they didn't know and that both teams ran with only 13 students instead of the normal 15!
