Speech and Debate MLK Tournament

This past weekend was incredible.  Every year, for the last 28 years, the James Logan High School speech and debate team has hosted the MLK tournament, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.  With his improvised riff, Dr. King took a leap into history, jumping from prose to poetry, from the podium to the pulpit. His voice elevated into an emotional crescendo as he turned from a sobering assessment of current social injustice to a radiant vision of hope,  of what America could be; and this, THIS is what the tournament's spirit embodied. Students from around the country came to speak their truth, tell their side, share their wounds, showcase their stories and teach through their talk.  That is the power of words.  They begin in the heart, escape the lips and change the world.

Please congratulate the students who spoke their ideas, opinions and stories into existence ...
as these students broke into the "out rounds" (meaning some to Octo finals, Quarter finals, Semi finals and Finals ...)
