Welcome Back 2019-2020

On behalf of the entire Mustang Community, we welcome you back to the new school year.  With over 1560 students this school year, we are excited to be offering lots of exciting opportunities for our students and families as we continue growing our school community.  Please read through this newsletter article for the beginning of the year's news and information.

  • MUSTANG ROUNDUP--The first three days of school are "Mustang Roundup Days" and are early release days.  Students will finish each day this first week at 1:30 P.M.  Please refer to the Bell Schedule HERE for specifics on the schedule.
  • ADVISORY (0 Period)--You will notice that all students have a "0 Period" on their class schedule that meets only on Thursday.  Advisory (0 Period) Meets every Thursday after 2nd Period, and sometimes at other times on specific days.  Please refer to the Bell Schedule HERE for specific days and times where Advisory meets.
  • SCHOOL SUPPLIES--As you will notice, MHHS does not publish school supply lists.  For the most part, students will be using their Chromebooks, a notebook or two, and some pens and pencils.  Some classes may have specific supply needs, and teachers will communicate these needs to students in the first two weeks of school.
  • PE CLOTHING AND LOCK--Students who take PE are required to have PE clothing and a lock for their PE locker.  Students may purchase PE clothing from the school, or may purchase a blue shirt and black shorts or sweats on their own.  Please note that the student's name must be able to be written clearly and visibly on the outside of the shirt and shorts if you purchase it on your own.  Locks must be combination locks ONLY. Students WILL NOT dress out for the first day of school but will be required to dress out for PE EVERY DAY.
  • CLASS CONTRIBUTIONS--Due to the fact that we do not request school supplies, some courses at MHHS request a classroom contribution to defray the cost of materials and activities in the classroom.  Students enrolled in Science, Art, Photography, Video Productions, Culinary Arts, Biomed, and Engineering are asked to donate $35 per class to defray these costs.  Donations for these classes can be made at the ASB office or online at our Webstore HERE.
  • ID CARDS--Students are REQUIRED to wear their ID card EVERY DAY to school.  This is the main way that we identify who students are and where they should be during the school day.  Please encourage your student to wear their ID card on a lanyard or clip on the upper part of their clothing each day.  Students who lose their ID cards will be charged for a replacement.  If a student's ID card is damaged they can bring it to the ASB office for a free replacement.
We look forward to a great school year.  If you have questions or concerns, we encourage you to contact a member of our administrative team or faculty.  Our hope is to provide an Empowering, Personalized, Innovative, and Collaborative learning environment for your student for the duration of their high school years.
