Here are a few highlights that may answer some questions you have:
- The default semester mark is Credit/No Credit, but a student can select (per class) if they would prefer a letter grade to be used.
- Students will have the opportunity to see their end-of-semester letter grade BEFORE choosing whether they want Credit/No Credit or a letter grade.
- Students may choose the letter grade option per class. We are able to put some letter grades and some Credit/No Credit on the same student’s transcript
- The choice to select a letter grade is final and cannot be changed once the window closes at 11:59pm on 5/18/2020.
- Teachers are continuing to grade work as it is turned in as a means for providing feedback to parents and students about their progress in the course in the event that they request a letter grade. It is possible a grade in Canvas or Edgenuity may go down from the 3rd quarter grade, however, those letter grades are informative at this point since you will have grade choice options at the end of the semester.
- We will not put a letter grade on any student’s transcript that is lower than their 3rd quarter letter grade. Students whose grades drop below the 3rd quarter grade will automatically receive the designation of Credit on their transcript.
- Here is the statement sent out by Lammersville Unified School District on Wednesday, April 15, 2020: “As stated by California Department of Education, for the duration of school closure due to COVID-19, ‘students shall be held harmless’. This means that assignments and assessments during the time of distance learning can improve a student’s final grade, but may not lower it.”
- All students are expected to complete the work provided for the remainder of this semester. Our guidance to students is to complete your work, see what your grade is at the end of the semester, and make the decision about your grade at that time.
