Mountain House High School Health and Fitness Expo

On February 10 Mountain House High School hosted an expansive Health and Fitness Expo for the community.  Students from the Key Club and the HOSA Future Health Professionals were essential to the process.  They helped with everything from spreading the word to inviting local health organizations to putting out tables and chairs for the participants to organizing the presentations throughout the day.  Following is a summary of the days events
  • UEI College conducted a variety of health screenings including blood pressure, iron levels, heart rate, and pulse ox
  • HOSA Students conducted a Be The Match Bone Marrow Registry Drive and Lindsey Carroll presented information on how Be The Match saved her daughter
  • Dr Shweta conducted nutritional screenings such as BMI, body fat, resting metabolism, visceral fat, body age and weight as well as a presentation on nutrition
  • Dr Trosien provided orthodontic/ dental information as well  as a presentation on the same subject matter
  • Dr Razan Tuttle provided information related to mental health and a presentation on Stress and Depression in Teenagers
  • The Art of Living provided a group demonstration of yoga and meditation
  • Clara Peterson presented information relating to Athletic Energy Deficiency and Youth Bone Health 
  • There were Information booths  on strokes, heart disease, mental illness, bone health, smoking, nutrition, meditation, fitness, cryotherapy, aromatherapy and more
  • Mountain House Fire Department, Sheriff's Department and Mother's Against Drunk Driving had booths relating to emergency preparedness and safety as well as presentations relating to keeping young people safe on the road and a crash car exhibit
  • The Student Nurse Association, Delta College and Las Positas College were on hand with information about health career training
  • Student speakers presented short speeches on with the topics "Gene Editing: Cures or Scary Science?" and "Create Your Future"
