D.A.R.E. Club Hygiene Kit Supplies

This month the D.A.R.E club is creating hygiene based homeless packages. Each class has been assigned a category: freshmen bring toothbrushes, toothpaste, or lip balm. Sophomores bring deodorant, dry shampoo, or wet wipes. Juniors bring socks, combs, or lotion. Seniors bring gallon zip close bags, hand sanitizer, or bandages. Bring your items either to Mr. Feinstein´s room or place them in any of the bins that will be around campus.The collection ends November 30. The total amount of items for each class will be added up ( 1 point per item) to be added for the upcoming Winter rally.

Holiday Shoe Drive and FREE CONCERT

Mountain House High School is proud to present The United States Air Force Concert Band for a FREE holiday concert right here in Mountain House.  This will be the first time a professional group will be performing in our new theater.  Come hear holiday music played by the Air Force Band and support underprivileged youth with your donated shoes!

Happy Diwali

We would like to wish all of our students and their families who celebrate Diwali in the Mustang and Mountain House Community a Happy Diwali celebration. 
This time of year our Hindu and Sikh students and their families celebrate Diwali.  For Hindus, this festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.  For Sikhs, the holiday celebrates the release of their sixth Guru from prison.  The celebration includes the display of lights on homes, buildings, windows and other buildings.  Happy Diwali to our students and families!

MHHS Football Playoff WIN

Mountain House High School is proud of our football team who played in, hosted, and WON our very first playoff game on Friday the 2nd of November!  The Mustangs face Ripon THIS FRIDAY at Ripon High School at 7:00 P.M.  Let's get out to Ripon to support our team in their second playoff game this Friday!

Based on the 1985 movie and the board game we all love, MHHS Theater is proud to present the newest version of the play that has been adapted by its original writer, Jonathan Lynn. It is a wild, farcical romp that is disguised as a murder mystery. We are proud to be able to present this to you as the national tour of this same show begins this year! Come see if you can figure out Whodunit. Was it Mr. Green in the dining room with the dagger, or Ms. Scarlet in the Study with the revolver? Come "play" with us.

Girls Tennis to host Kimball for Playoffs

Good luck to the Lady Mustangs varsity tennis team who are hosting the Lady Jaguars of Kimball High in sectional Semifinals November 6th at 2 pm on our home courts.

Girls Varsity Tennis WINS in First Round Playoffs

The Lady Mustangs Varsity Tennis Silenced the Rams of Dixon High 9-0 in the first round of CIF sectional playoffs on Wednesday October 31, 2018.  The Mustangs continued their season of dominance. Losing a total of 13 games in 9 matches and winning 109 games.  #1 singles Elyse Low, #3 singles Saanvi Chilakapati, #1 doubles Ife Ikechiuku and Crystal Chum and #3 doubles Erin Su and Udaiyaa Bommudurai all won their matches 6-0, 6-0.  The Mustangs will host the sectional semifinals match next Tuesday November 6, 2018 against the winner of the Kimball/Pioneer match.

Student Achieves Top ACT Score of 36

Please join the Mustang community in congratulating Sree Subramanian, a sophomore at MHHS who earned the HIGHEST possible ACT composite score of 36!  On average, only around one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score.  In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2017, only 2,760 out of more than 2 million graduates who took the ACT earned a composite score of 36.
The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science, each each scored on a scale of 1–36. A student's composite score is the average of the four test scores.  While test scores are just one of multiple criteria that most colleges consider when making admission decisions, an exceptional ACT composite score proves helpful when prusuing education and career goals.
The ACT is a curriculum-based achievement exam that measures what students have learned in school. Students who earn a 36 composite score have likely mastered all of the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in first-year college courses in the core subject areas.
ACT scores are accepted by all major four-year colleges and universities across the U.S.

Jacqueline Prawira WINS at Broadcom MASTERS

We are excited to announce Jacqueline Prawira won the 2018 Marconi/Samueli Award for Innovation, with a cash prize of $10,000! She was one of the four Grand Prize winners!

Jacqueline participated in an extraordinary experience last week in Washington D.C. that was packed with vigorous activities, such as:

- project showcase at the National Geographic Museum

- 2 days of team building STEM challenges

- photo shoots and interviews, including with Washington Post

- Capitol Hill trip to meet with representatives, like Congressman Jerry Mcnerney, Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Dianne Feinstein

- a special field trip to the White House to meet with STEM officials

- a very special and unexpected meeting with Ivanka Trump

In Jacqueline's own words she stated  "The knowledge and experience I gained as a Broadcom MASTERS finalist was an incomparably elucidating and priceless opportunity. It has opened my eyes to a whole new dimension of thinking, analyzing, and problem-solving."

Football League Champions

Please congratulate the Varsity Football Team for posting a 9-1 regular season and earning a piece of the WAC League Championship!  This is a season of "Firsts" for our Football program.  We will host our First Play-off Game this Friday, November 11/2/18 at 7:00 P.M. at "The Range."

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IN REGARDS TO TICKET PRICES:
NO ASB or Family Passes are allowed at playoff games.  Prices for playoff tickets are as follows:

Drama Club Movie Night

“Hey Mustangs! Time to get your fright on with the Drama Club  at our Movie Night on Monday, October 29th at 7pm! We will be watching Hocus Pocus! It’s a fundraiser for our upcoming trip to New York City and we’d love for you to come out! Admission is free but we are asking donations! We will be selling concessions throughout the night so make sure to bring your friends, families and blankets!

Glee Club Broadway Costume Party

The MHHS Glee Club is having Broadway Costume Party in the MPR after school on October 31st. The concert’s theme is spooky songs and broadway musical performances. There will be food and drinks for sale at the event. Admission costs $4 dollars for adults and $3 dollars for students. The event will start immediately after school on Halloween Day, so the club invites you to come dressed in a costume. See you there!

TeenTechSF Global Civic Hackathon

This past weekend, Computer Science and Hackathon Clubs attended the TeenTechSF Global Civic Hackathon to develop IT solutions to solve Community Problems. They were given 5 prompts concerning Civic issues such as energy consumption and waste, homelessness, human rights, food scarcity, and sexual harassment.

Our three teams worked for 14 hours to design their IT solutions to one of these problems. All worked hard and learned new things they had not explored in their programming courses. All presented their ideas to a panel of industry judges. All received positive comments.

Advithi Kethidi, Siddharth Krishna, and Kaleb Paul created an App to inform users of the UN Human Rights document and ways to petition governments to accept the document.

Pranav Krishna, Saikrishna Mittapalli, and Holland Pleakac created and App for users to call for help. The app utilizes the community as a whole to mobilize and offer aid to those around them until Paramedics and police arrive.

Jacob Robertson, Julian Sta Cruz, and Taylor Chin created an app to calculate an individuals energy consumption and detail the amount of carbon footprint that was created. It then offers suggestions for reduction of the carbon footprint and uses game theory to incentivize users to make changes to their energy usage.

In the end one of our teams won.

Football Senior Night--FREE for K-8 Students

Tonight is our Senior Night for Football and Marching Band!  This year, all K-8 students in the Lammersville Unified School District get in for FREE if they are wearing their school spirit wear.  Varsity game starts at 7pm!  BE THERE!
