National Youth Science Camp Opportunity--SENIORS ONLY

The California Department of Education has announced open applications for the 2019 National Youth Science Camp (NYSC).  This camp is for high-achieving, science oriented students and is a residential science education honors program for two graduating students from each state.  This program is offered at NO COST to participants.  All educational and recreational programming as well as meals, lodging, and round-trip air passage are provided free of charge to the delegates.

This year's NYSC is held in the Monongahela National Forest near Bartow in the Eastern mountains of West Virginia.  Delegates will participate from June 27, 2019 through July 20, 2019.  Only two students per state are eligible, so interested students must meet the following criteria to apply:

  • Must be a CURRENT high school Senior.
  • Must demonstrate superior academic proficiency, including recognition in mathematics and/or the sciences.
  • Must demonstrate an application of leadership abilities and social maturity through involvement in school and community activities.
  • Must demonstrate skills and achievement outside the realm of science and outside the realm of academic pursuits.
  • Must demonstrate a curiosity and an eagerness to explore many and varied topics
We encourage any interested student who meets these criteria to apply.  The deadline for the application is Wednesday, February 28, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
The link for the online application is here:  https://nysf.smapply.io/

We would love for some MHHS students to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
