Dress Code for Prom



Our prom dinner cruise on San Francisco Bay scheduled for April 1st is quickly approaching. We know a lot of you are starting to do your shopping for what you are going to wear. As you make your choices please remember that there is a dress code for the formal event. Keep in mind that if you are bringing an approved guest it is your responsibility to communicate this to the and make sure that they are dressed appropriately. 

Please review the dress code below and refer to it as you make your choices.



Mountain House High School Formal Dress Code

Girls
Girls will wear semi formal attire or formal gowns or pantsuits. Strapless and spaghetti straps will be permitted.

Reminders
• Dresses are to be no more than 3 inches above the knee (front and back). This also applies to slits in dresses.
• Dress may not be extremely low-cut in the front or back. The front of the dress must not fall below the bra line; the back of the dress must not fall below the waist.
• Dresses may not be extremely tight/form-fitting. Be aware of the material that gathers and rises when you walk.

The following will not be permitted:
• Two-piece formal gowns or pants and top, where the midriff is showing
• Dresses with cut-outs
• See-through gowns (this includes sheer/mesh overlays that do not have material underneath)
• Shorts
• Torn clothing


Boys
Boys will wear semi formal or formal attire. You must wear nice slacks and a button down shirt with a collar and a tie/bowtie. A suit jacket is suggested as well, but not required. Please wear nice clean closed-toe shoes. Colored vans or converse are acceptable

The following will not be permitted:
  • sagging pants
  • torn clothing
  • shorts
  • t-shirts
  • polo shirts

If you are unsure whether your attire is appropriate, please show your evening wear to Mrs. Lynch or Mrs. Hellstrom beforehand to determine if it is dance appropriate.

Students and their dates who are non-compliant with the dress code will not be admitted to the dance or will be escorted out of the dance. No refunds will be given for dance dress code infractions in which these students are asked to leave.
