We are looking for a few good juniors and seniors to serve as cabin leaders for a science outdoor camp next week. High school cabin leaders are an integral part of the program and will be leaders and role models for the 5th and 6th graders who attend the camp. Cabin leaders are with students 23 hours a day, sleeping in cabins with 7-12 boys or girls. The high school students are responsible for getting the students to meals and activities, and to bed on time.
During the day, they remain with the students as they go on hikes and participate in activities with a naturalist. Cabin leaders will lead outdoor activities with a positive attitude. Additionally, one full day is spent at the beach, which is about twenty minutes from camp. The conditions and groups at camp can be challenging. Cabin leaders need to be flexible and maintain a positive attitude at all times. As role models for the fifth and sixth graders, cabin leaders set the tone for the week with their attitude and response to problems that arise. They are not alone in this though; the attending teachers, naturalists, and camp principal are all there to aid whenever necessary.
