A Mustang Moment from Mr. Fobèrt

Each morning we have an opportunity to communicate with our students through the morning announcements. During those announcements, I have the opportunity to share a "Mustang Moment" with the students. I would also like to share a moment with all of you through our newsletter each time it is updated. So, here you your first ever "Mustang Moment" in the Mustang Messenger:

Just think, this will be a year of firsts for all of us.  Being the first is both a privilege and a responsibility.  We have the opportunity this year to make our year of firsts begin a long tradition of Caring, Respect, responsibility, Fairness, Trustworthiness and Citizenship...all of these traits define what it means to live “The Mustang Way.”
Before I sign off from this morning’s announcements, I’d like to share something with you that I learned when I was a college student in Hawaii.  Aside from the awesomeness of being able to live in Hawaii, I learning something very important from the Hawaiian Word “Aloha.”  Many of you may know this as a word that is used in several different ways...it means hello, good bye, and I love you.  Did you know that there are actually 2 parts to this word?  The first part of the word “alo” which means "in front of," "with," or "in the presence of," and the word “ha” which means "life," “life energy”, or "breath”.  I love this greeting because it quite literally means "joyfully sharing life."  My wish is that as a school we can joyfully share our lives as Mountain House Mustangs together.

So, as we begin this year, I share with you MY Aloha. Let's make this school something special. Let's work as a community to joyfully share life together.

Back to School Night

Monday the 25th of August from 6:30 to 8:30 is our Back to School Night.  Back to School Night is an PARENT ONLY event. Parents will meet for an orientation meeting at 6:30 PM to learn more about our first year here at MHHS, and the new technology that we are using.
Parents will then have an opportunity to go to each one of their student’s classes for 10 minute presentations led by the teachers. We want to emphasize that Back To School Night at the high school is for PARENTS ONLY.
For easy access to the orientation in the Gym at the beginning of the night, parents should plan to park in the parking lot in the rear of campus along Tradition Street.
We look forward to seeing all of our student’s parents on Monday night at Back to School Night.

Schedule Change Requests

If you or your student would like to request a schedule change, please CLICK HERE.  Schedule change requests may be made during the first 2 weeks of school.  The schedule change request period is over on Wednesday, September 3rd.  Schedule changes can take several days to process, and parents and students must understand that a schedule change is a REQUEST not a guarantee.

Mustang Madness Fridays

As part of the spirit and culture here at MHHS, we have instituted Mustang Madness Fridays.  This means that each Friday, students are encouraged to show their Mustang Pride by wearing Blue and Silver to school.  It would be great if our extended Mustang Community would show their pride too!  Let's make Mountain House and Lammersville a spirited community, and support our mustangs by wearing your spirit wear every Friday.  Spirit wear is available at all of the major activities at the school, and will soon be available online through our Athletic Boosters Club.

MHHS Colorguard

MHHS Colorguard is an opportunity for students who may not want to play an instrument to be a part of the MHHS marching band.  Colorguard is the part of the band that spins flags, dances, and performs with the band during their field shows.  Additionally, Colorguard has its own season in the winter where they perform indoors on the gym floor.  If students are interested in participating in Colorguard, they should contact Mr. Rexelle in room A217, or by emailing him at trexelle@lammersvilleusd.net.

New Clubs Meeting

As a new school, our students have not had the opportunity to establish clubs on our campus yet.  Our leadership teacher and the leadership students will be holding an informational meeting on Thursday, August 28th at lunch in Miss Garrison's room in A203.  Starting clubs is a great way to show your school pride and build our school culture.  We hope to see lots of students there!
