Winter Break
As the first semester of the 2018-2019 school year comes to a close, we want to wish all of you a wonderful holiday season, and a restful Winter Break. Students, teachers, and parents have all worked very hard over the past semester to learn, teach, play, and support one another in the pursuit for knowledge. The faculty and staff at Mountain House High School want to remind you that starting at 3:00 P.M. on Friday the 21st of December, the school will be closed. We will remain closed for the duration of the winter break and will reopen on Monday, January 7, 2019. This also means that teachers, faculty, and staff may not be available by phone, or email until we reopen our offices in January. Please be patient with us as we all take a well deserved break over the next two weeks. We encourage you and your family to do the same as we gear up for our second semester.
We want you to be aware that we are mindful that emergencies can happen over winter break. If you have a crisis or emergency situation here are some important numbers:

Speech Debate Tournament
Please help us in congratulating the following ... after a grueling weekend, with hundreds of competitors, about 1200, we have the following victories to celebrate ...
It was a rather difficult weekend, late nights and really early mornings and lots of driving and these kids still rocked!!!
Proud to be a Mustang ...
- Mrs. Garcia and Mrs. Lohmann maintained heroes status with the speech and debate team as they traveled with them to help judge and support the world of words! YAY ... awesome support staff and super cool peeps!
- Young debaters flourished and were able to break out of the preliminary rounds and get into double octos, then octos, then quarters (Which is a fancy way to say the top 14 of the tournament)... way to go: Aashril Shazar & Dhruva Kolikineni!!! As a side note, Aashril took 9th speaker for the entire tournament, which is saying something, that means against the entire field of competitors, regardless of his rank, his speaking was among the best! YAHOOOOO!!!
- Speech students and funny guys also did well ... please congratulate: Mohaned Ali He took 9th place over all and made it to the semi finals & Brianna Do made it to finals and took 7th place overall!!

Mountain House Wrestling Updates
Mountain House High School Boys and Girls wrestling traveled all the way to Atwater High School this last weekend to compete in the Bristow Brawl. Even with small numbers the wrestlers showed everyone what it means to be a Mustang. The kids wrested with heart and represented Mountain House well.
Ramona Jimenez wrestled in the Girls Varsity bracket and finished with an impressive 4-0 record. This was Ramona's second time at the tournament, where she did not win a match her Freshman year. Now as a Junior, Ramona said she felt like she has redeemed herself. Ramona's stand out match was a :49 second pin in the first period. Ramona looks to have a successful year with a good start.
Newcomer Yvette Hoffman was all smiles after her 3-0 record at the tournament. Yvette won her first two matches by points, and felt relieved when she learned that a pin would end the match early. In turn, she pinned her last opponent in the first period.
Senior Jaden Gonzalez-Burnham and Sophomore Antonio Rameriez faced off against each other to place both 1st and 2nd in the tournament, with Jaden coming out on top. As first year wresters, both Jaden and Antonio look forward to improving on their skills.
Freshman Abby Arukumar wrestled hard and is looking to improve as well as Sophomore newcomer Adam Amir.

Happy Hanukkah
We would like to wish all of our students and their families who celebrate Hanukkah in the Mustang and Mountain House Community a Happy Hanukkah.
This time of year our Jewish students and their families celebrate Hanukkah. This festival of lights is observed for eight nights and days and starts on December 2nd this year. The 8 day celebration commemorates the re-dedication of their Temple in Jerusalem, and the miracle of a small quantity of oil lasting eight days in the Temple's Menorah.
Happy Hanukkah to our students and families!
