Did you know that MHHS actively filters content coming in to your student's Chromebook while they are both on and off of our campuses? We do! No mater where your student goes, our web filters offered through a company called "Securly" filters internet content. If you want more information about the company we use, you can visit their website HERE.
If you are further concerned about your child's access to information on the internet, we strongly encourage families to investigate ways to filter internet usage through your home internet service. Mountain House has two main internet providers, Comcast and AT&T. Both companies provide Parental controls through your home internet connection. For your convenience, here is a link to each company's parental control instructions:
Comcast: CLICK HERE
AT&T: CLICK HERE
There are other internet providers in our area. If you are interested in their parental control features, we encourage you to investigate their parental controls, and place limits on your own network at home.
If you have questions or suggestions for our own internet filters, please contact our I.T. specialist, James Reed at jreed@lammersvilleusd.net.

Military Recruiters
On occasion, MHHS has the opportunity to host recruiters from the U.S. Armed Forces on our campus. This week recruiters were on campus and set up a booth during lunch time for students to be able to learn a bit more about opportunities to serve in the military, and how service in the armed forces can benefit them in their educational pursuits. Recruiters on our campus are active duty military personnel, and help students to understand the kinds of careers and educational opportunities students can get through the armed forces. This week's visitors were from the United States Army.
Army recruiters will return next month and will be bringing the Army's "IS-4 interactive semi trailer" where students learn about much more than just Army careers. Army recruiters interact with students and talk about the importance of their education, college college and careers, and respect for themselves and others. If you are interested in coming to check it out, the interactive display will be here on February 10th at lunch time.
We look forward to visits from other branches of the military, as well as recruiters and visitors from colleges, universities, and trade schools that will be of interest to students as they prepare themselves for the world of post-high school training, college, and careers.

Women in STEM
The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, in connection with the Bankhead Theater in Livermore, have a program that may be of interest to our families. Science on Saturday (SOS) is a series of science lectures for middle and high school students. Each topic highlights cutting-edge science occurring at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). The talks are presented by leading LLNL science researchers supported by master high school science teachers. These presentations are offered in several locations. Admission is free of charge. Seating is on a first come basis. Below is a posting of the current series that highlights Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
