Student Achieves Top ACT Score of 36

Please join the Mustang community in congratulating Sree Subramanian, a sophomore at MHHS who earned the HIGHEST possible ACT composite score of 36!  On average, only around one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score.  In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2017, only 2,760 out of more than 2 million graduates who took the ACT earned a composite score of 36.
The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science, each each scored on a scale of 1–36. A student's composite score is the average of the four test scores.  While test scores are just one of multiple criteria that most colleges consider when making admission decisions, an exceptional ACT composite score proves helpful when prusuing education and career goals.
The ACT is a curriculum-based achievement exam that measures what students have learned in school. Students who earn a 36 composite score have likely mastered all of the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in first-year college courses in the core subject areas.
ACT scores are accepted by all major four-year colleges and universities across the U.S.

Jacqueline Prawira WINS at Broadcom MASTERS

We are excited to announce Jacqueline Prawira won the 2018 Marconi/Samueli Award for Innovation, with a cash prize of $10,000! She was one of the four Grand Prize winners!

Jacqueline participated in an extraordinary experience last week in Washington D.C. that was packed with vigorous activities, such as:

- project showcase at the National Geographic Museum

- 2 days of team building STEM challenges

- photo shoots and interviews, including with Washington Post

- Capitol Hill trip to meet with representatives, like Congressman Jerry Mcnerney, Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Dianne Feinstein

- a special field trip to the White House to meet with STEM officials

- a very special and unexpected meeting with Ivanka Trump

In Jacqueline's own words she stated  "The knowledge and experience I gained as a Broadcom MASTERS finalist was an incomparably elucidating and priceless opportunity. It has opened my eyes to a whole new dimension of thinking, analyzing, and problem-solving."

Football League Champions

Please congratulate the Varsity Football Team for posting a 9-1 regular season and earning a piece of the WAC League Championship!  This is a season of "Firsts" for our Football program.  We will host our First Play-off Game this Friday, November 11/2/18 at 7:00 P.M. at "The Range."

Drama Club Movie Night

“Hey Mustangs! Time to get your fright on with the Drama Club  at our Movie Night on Monday, October 29th at 7pm! We will be watching Hocus Pocus! It’s a fundraiser for our upcoming trip to New York City and we’d love for you to come out! Admission is free but we are asking donations! We will be selling concessions throughout the night so make sure to bring your friends, families and blankets!

Glee Club Broadway Costume Party

The MHHS Glee Club is having Broadway Costume Party in the MPR after school on October 31st. The concert’s theme is spooky songs and broadway musical performances. There will be food and drinks for sale at the event. Admission costs $4 dollars for adults and $3 dollars for students. The event will start immediately after school on Halloween Day, so the club invites you to come dressed in a costume. See you there!

TeenTechSF Global Civic Hackathon

This past weekend, Computer Science and Hackathon Clubs attended the TeenTechSF Global Civic Hackathon to develop IT solutions to solve Community Problems. They were given 5 prompts concerning Civic issues such as energy consumption and waste, homelessness, human rights, food scarcity, and sexual harassment.

Our three teams worked for 14 hours to design their IT solutions to one of these problems. All worked hard and learned new things they had not explored in their programming courses. All presented their ideas to a panel of industry judges. All received positive comments.

Advithi Kethidi, Siddharth Krishna, and Kaleb Paul created an App to inform users of the UN Human Rights document and ways to petition governments to accept the document.

Pranav Krishna, Saikrishna Mittapalli, and Holland Pleakac created and App for users to call for help. The app utilizes the community as a whole to mobilize and offer aid to those around them until Paramedics and police arrive.

Jacob Robertson, Julian Sta Cruz, and Taylor Chin created an app to calculate an individuals energy consumption and detail the amount of carbon footprint that was created. It then offers suggestions for reduction of the carbon footprint and uses game theory to incentivize users to make changes to their energy usage.

In the end one of our teams won.

Football Senior Night--FREE for K-8 Students

Tonight is our Senior Night for Football and Marching Band!  This year, all K-8 students in the Lammersville Unified School District get in for FREE if they are wearing their school spirit wear.  Varsity game starts at 7pm!  BE THERE!

HOSA Haunted House

It's an annual tradition.  Come be scared by our SPOOKY Haunted Hospital, run by our HOSA club. 

Lady Mustangs Varsity Tennis

The undefeated MHHS Lady Mustangs Varsity Tennis Team will take on the Rams of Dixon High in the first round of the SAC-SAN JOAQUIN sectional playoffs at home on Wednesday October 31 at 2 pm.  Come out to the tennis courts along Tradition Street to come watch our champs play!

Mustang Brigade Places 2nd in Dublin Tournament

Please help us to congratulate the MHHS Mustang Brigade Marching band on their 2nd place finish this past weekend in Dublin. They were in competition with 7 other Bands and did a great job representing the school and community.

ID Card Sweep

ID cards are our first line of defense in identifying who is on our campus.  With safety being a hot-button issue in our schools today, it is essential that we be able to identify our students at our school quickly and efficiently.  As a result, we are emphasizing the expectation for ALL of our students, faculty, and staff to wear their ID cards ALL of the time. 

Today, we had a very successful ID check.  All students on campus ended the day with an ID card or will receive it during 1st period tomorrow morning.  If students were absent today and don't have an ID card please be sure to stop by the school bank first thing in the morning to get an ID card printed.  We want to let all students know that moving forward we will have routine ID Sweeps which means all students without ID's will be sent to the office and given consequences.

Please remember that the ID card must be worn and visible all day on the upper part of a student's body.  We are making this a huge school wide effort as the importance of being able to identify anyone one campus at all times helps keep our campus safe.

Girls Tennis WINS again!

The MHHS Girls Varsity Tennis team recently traveled to Modesto to take on the Patriots of Beyer High.  While some of the matches were closer this time, the final result was never in doubt as the Mustangs once again won all the matches 9-0.  Top performer today were Ify Ikechiuku and Crystal Chum  who won their match at #1 doubles with a score of 6-0, 6-0.  The girls also won on Wednesday the 10th at Pacheco High School.  This means that our Girls tennis team is UNDEFEATED!  Next up is our tennis match at Ceres on Monday the 15th.  Good luck to our Lady Mustang Tennis Team!
