PSAT Registration Deadline

The PSAT/NMSQT test will be offered at Mountain House High School on Saturday, October 15th. Any interested sophomores or juniors are eligible to take this test to prepare for the SAT exam. The PSAT is a multiple-choice assessment of verbal, mathematics, and writing skills.

The PSAT/NMSQT is an optional test that provides practice for the SAT Reasoning Test through personalized feedback of student performance with suggestions for improvement. The SAT Reasoning Test, taken later in the junior year can be used as a standardized test in college applications and may be helpful for students wanting to pursue admission to highly competitive colleges or universities. PSAT also serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT). Top performing juniors nationally (approximately 1%) may be eligible for money through National Merit, National Achievement, or National Hispanic Scholarship funds.

Seats for the exam are limited and students are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. The cost for taking the PSAT is $20 and can be paid for in person at the front desk or online at the MHHS webstore. The deadline for purchasing a place for the October sitting of the test has been extended and is now Friday, September 16th.

More information about the PSAT including sample test questions can be found here.

MHHS Senior Sunset

The Class of 2016 celebrated their Senior Sunset the evening of May 24th. While not all members of the class were able to attend, about 35 did participate.

As they waited for the sun to go down they enjoyed something to eat and drink and huddled together to keep warm. Earlier in the school year they had written themselves letters about what this school year was going to be like, where they hoped to attend college and what their future may hold for themselves. They took turns reading their letters aloud, laughed about their previous ideas and even got a bit sentimental about their writings. They did save a few of the letters to go in their time capsule to be reopened at a future class reunion.

Graduation on Friday the 26th of May was a fitting end for our first senior class, as was the awesome party thrown by Senior Class parents.

There is no doubt that this first group of seniors from MHHS have left their mark on each other, on our school and in our hearts.
